Usage demo
This page highlights our technology in order to measure the usage of a block of information within a page.
How to use this example?
At the bottom right corner of the page, a demo box is displayed, and continuously updated.
It illustrates the information that our script records.
The frequency of updates is higher than on a normal site, so that you can visualize the dynamic aspect of our measurement system.
Time measurement
Time spent is the most important indicator of web 2.0. It replaces page views, which became meaningless when pages are refreshed piece by piece (Ajax)
Time is only taken into account when the script detects mouse-keyboard activity on the page. Time count is stopped after a certain idle time. In this demonstration, time is "stopped" after 10 seconds of idle time. In a normal configuration, the idle time is more important: one minute for instance for a "text" site, without video.

Stop to move your mouse (and don't touch your keyboard) during 10 seconds. The windows in the lower right corner does not refresh anymore!
Visibility measurement
Content visibility is also used to measure time. As soon as a content is not visible anymore, our script stops counting is time of display.
You can make the following experiment:
- check the total time of the page (last line in the green rectangle)
- switch to another application, or another tab on your navigator
- count 10 seconds (this page must no longer be visible)
- come back on this page and look at the total time: it did not change!
Usage measurement
You can see in this page a template of an online purchase form.
This demonstration shows
how we can measure basket abandonment.
Each step (part of the form) is measured, in terms of visibility and usage.
When you fill the form, the demo box in the bottom right side shows the duration that you spent typing or clicking within the form.
The definition of usage is "mouse-keyboard activity on the block".
If you stop using the block during 10 seconds, no usage is recorded anymore.
